Barthelme for CS 2.1

After working on it on and off for a while it is finally (I think) ready for release.

There probably will be issues as its only been tested on my own blog. The CSS definitely has some extraneous stuff which I will be working to be rid of for the next release. I would appreciate feedback or, even better, fixes.

Get it.

Blogging With WLW

Used Windows Live Writer for a few posts, its been great, except when it comes to categories/tags handling. Opening an existing post does not check the existing tags. And as far as I can tell, there is no way to create new tags.

Amazon Swag: November 2006

My Amazon order arrived late last week. I am a happy and contented man.

Clockwise from top left, a pair of Ayreon albums, "Into the Electric Castle" and "Actual Fantasy Revisited", Frameshift "An Absence of Empathy", "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence After the Long Goodbye" and the pièce de résistance, "The Absolute Sandman, Volume 1".

Community Server 2.1 MetaBlog API Update

The Telligent crew back ported the Blog File Drop feature slated for CS 3.0 into 2.1. What it means is that I can upload more than one picture per post via the MetaWeblogAPI. This is fantastic news. It simply means I no longer have to futz around with the Photo Gallery should I need more than one picture in a post. This is also the first post I am doing with Windows Live Writer, which is really nice.

Get it.

Thunderbird 1.5.0.8

Mozilla almost sneaked this one past me, I was made aware of it only when my installation of Thunderbird prompted for me to install the update. Release notes are pretty skimpy.

The Rumbling Edge has the gory details as usual.

Tamarin (Adobe + Mozilla Love)

Very exciting, Adobe open sourced their ActionScript Virtual Machine, a "high performance" VM featuring a Just-In-Time (JIT) compiler. They have also contributed it to Mozilla which created the Tamarin Project will eventually be integrated to the core Javascript engine.

The good news for developers is that they are targeting ECMAScript 4 (which means Javascript 2), but users should see benefit as well from the expected performance increase. Javascript heavy pages should really fly due to the presence of the JIT compiler.

Community Server Daily News

I have only just realised that I have been mentioned twice in the Community Server Daily News. (I'm duckie)

This site runs on Community Server by the way, and I highly recommend it. Version 3 (due Q1 2007) will be even better.
