Altered Consciousness

Just pulled an all night, and then in the morning I threw on the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's, and somehow additional dimensions in the music which I have never noticed before just leapt out of the speakers and blasted right through my consciousness...

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV

Trent Reznor has done it: a double album of new instrumental music available as a high quality, DRM-free download, very reasonably priced 2 CD set (US$10) or either one of a pair of luxurious deluxe packages. I'll be grabbing the 2 CD set myself ...

Free At Last! (or: Screw You Guys!)

Trent Reznor (and Nine Inch Nails by default) is now free from any recording contract . As I have mentioned , he is one of the few, perhaps the only, major artist who gets it. Here's hoping more famous musicians follow his lead. [via digg ]

Music Is Drugs

Very interesting article on the book "This Is Your Brain on Music". Probably explains why I cannot accept new rock music, and also why old *coughbonjovicough* songs make me happy even though I know they are crap.

Paris: Sensitive

Paris Hilton cries when she listens to her own album . Yeah, well, like, I probably will feel like crying too if I, like, ever have to listen to it.

Idol Schmidol

Finally caught an episode of the second season of Singapore Idol, because it was "Rock the House" night. Song by song run down (I don't know the names of the contestants): You Give Love A Bad Name: Pretty decent! Good voice and stage presence...

"My lovably ordinary brother Syd"

A good read, and somehow comforting. The 'crazy diamond' founder of Pink Floyd was no acid casualty or recluse. He loved art and DIY, his sister Rosemary tells his biographer Tim Willis in her first interview for 30 years "My lovably ordinary...
